Nightjar is a creative, can-do restaurant with big plans. We believe in warmth, generosity, a strong work ethic, and doing simple things exceptionally well. We’re looking for a Head Chef who shares those values and can lead a collaborative kitchen team while maintaining consistently excellent food and service.
The Head Chef oversees day-to-day kitchen operations, including food preparation and execution, staff supervision, inventory, ordering, cleanliness, and food safety. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and able to lead by example.
Primary Responsibilities
Lead and support the kitchen team during service, ensuring food is consistently prepared, cooked, and plated to our standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked kitchen while following all food safety regulations.
Oversee opening and closing procedures and help foster a positive, respectful kitchen culture.
Monitor inventory, maintain pars, minimize waste, and place weekly food and supply orders.
Communicate with ownership regarding staffing, kitchen operations, specials, and upcoming needs.
Help develop seasonal and holiday specials, including recipe development and food-costing.
Work collaboratively with FOH and BOH staff to provide excellent guest experiences.
Qualifications
Previous professional kitchen and leadership experience preferred.
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen.
Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting approximately 50 lbs.
Willingness to work around heat and maintain a high standard of cleanliness and food safety.
Hours & Pay
Nightjar is open Wednesday–Saturday, 5:00–9:00 PM, and prep days on Tuesday. Typical shifts begin around 2:00 PM and end approximately 9:45–10:00 PM. -
We’re looking for a motivated and reliable Sous Chef to join the Nightjar kitchen team. The ideal candidate is passionate about great food, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys creating a smooth, efficient workflow for the whole line. Responsibilities include prepping ingredients, assisting in executing our full menu, supporting the Chef with daily operations, maintaining high standards for cleanliness and food safety, and helping guide the team during busy service. Experience in a professional kitchen is preferred, but we’re happy to train someone with a strong work ethic, good communication skills, and a desire to grow in the culinary field.

We’re looking for a reliable and hardworking kitchen team member to help keep the kitchen prepared, organized, and running smoothly.
This position focuses primarily on daily food preparation, dishwashing, kitchen organization, and general kitchen support. The ideal candidate takes pride in doing things well, works efficiently, and is willing to jump in wherever the kitchen needs help.
Primary Responsibilities
Prepare ingredients and complete daily prep according to established recipes and procedures.
Keep prep areas, equipment, and storage spaces clean and organized.
Wash dishes, cookware, and kitchen equipment throughout service.
Help maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked kitchen.
Assist cooks during service with basic kitchen tasks, restocking, and other support as needed.
Properly store, label, and rotate food while following food safety guidelines.
Complete opening, closing, and cleaning tasks accurately and consistently.
Work as part of a team to keep the kitchen moving efficiently.
Qualifications
Previous kitchen, or prep experience preferred, but we’re happy to train the right person.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable standing for extended periods, working around heat, and lifting approximately 50 lbs.
